Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, in collaboration with the Cancer Society of Maldives, successfully concluded a wide-ranging health advocacy programme on 7th February 2026 in observance of World Cancer Day. Delivered under the Sun Siyam Care sustainability programme, the initiative combined expert-led educational sessions with physical activity, reinforcing messages around cancer prevention and the importance of early detection.

Activities began at sunrise with a Community Morning Run held in Dh. Meedhoo, bringing participants together before they shared a nutritious breakfast. The programme then moved to Dh. Meedhoo School, where an educational seminar was conducted and tailored specifically for students. Engagement continued into the afternoon at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef with a focused awareness session for the resort’s team members, centred on health education and advocacy.

“We are deeply grateful to the Cancer Society of Maldives for their expertise and partnership,” stated Thoha Yoosuf, Resort Manager. “Our mission is to foster a culture of proactive health, ensuring our team and the local community are empowered with the knowledge to build a more resilient future together.”

Sun Siyam Vilu Reef remains committed to supporting the long-term wellbeing of its team members and neighbouring communities. The collaboration highlights the role of collective effort in strengthening cancer advocacy, as both organisations continue working together to promote protection and awareness across the island nation.
