InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort took part in IHG Hotels & Resorts’ global “Giving for Good” initiative this September, joining thousands of colleagues worldwide in a month of community-driven action. The program, rooted in IHG’s pledge to “True Hospitality for Good,” brought together the resort’s team in a variety of projects aimed at supporting the environment, local communities, and wellbeing.

The month began on 7 September with an island cleaning effort, where colleagues cleared waste along the shoreline and nearby greenery. The activity underscored the resort’s dedication to protecting the fragile Maldivian environment and emphasized the importance of collective action in preserving the islands for future generations.

On 9 September, the resort extended its support to Raa. Alifushi School by donating a full set of multi-purpose court mats. This contribution provided a safe and engaging space for recreation, encouraging students to strengthen bonds through sports, teamwork, and shared activity.

Protecting marine life was the focus on 15 September, when staff members participated in a lagoon cleaning initiative at Maamunagau. The effort highlighted the resort’s commitment to safeguarding marine ecosystems and reminded participants of the shared responsibility to care for the ocean.

The following day, 16 September, the team traveled to Baa. Kudarikilu Island to conduct a beach cleaning in collaboration with International Housekeeping Week 2025. The event not only restored the natural beauty of the island but also opened discussions on sustainability and how small, collective efforts can create lasting change.

On 24 September, InterContinental Maldives hosted a blood donation camp in partnership with Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Thirty donors participated, making the initiative a meaningful demonstration of solidarity and support for public health. The guidance of the IGMH medical team ensured the smooth and safe success of the event.

The month closed on 30 September with an inspiring Career Day held for students of Baa. Dhonfanu School. Through interactive sessions in areas such as culinary arts and guest services, the students were introduced to the diverse opportunities within the hospitality industry and encouraged to consider potential career paths.

By dedicating the month to environmental protection, education, and health initiatives, InterContinental Maldives reaffirmed its commitment to giving back. Each activity reflected the core belief behind IHG’s “Giving for Good” — that small, meaningful actions, when multiplied, can have a lasting impact on the world.
