Milaidhoo Maldives will celebrate World Photo Day by launching “Reef Stories,” a digital gallery that will feature guest-captured photographs of the vibrant marine life surrounding its island. Situated in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, Milaidhoo is a haven of crystal-clear waters, thriving coral reefs, and marine creatures like sea turtles and manta rays. The gallery will encourage guests to share their unique underwater images, capturing moments such as shy sea turtles gliding through coral gardens or swims alongside majestic manta rays, creating a collective narrative that highlights the ocean’s beauty and fragility. Ocean Stories, Milaidhoo’s aquatic discovery centre, will support this initiative with guidance from PADI 5-star dive instructors and a resident marine biologist, offering snorkelling, diving, citizen science projects, and educational talks to deepen guests’ connection to the marine ecosystem. Committed to sustainability, Milaidhoo will prioritize non-motorized activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and windsurfing to ensure minimal environmental impact while exploring the lagoon. Abdulla Mufeed, Base Leader, explains that “Reef Stories” will go beyond a mere photo collection, showcasing guests’ personal connections to the ocean and inspiring conservation efforts while inviting others to explore the underwater world. Guests will be invited to contribute their Milaidhoo Moments to “Reef Stories,” with further details available through the Milaidhoo Island | House Reef Guide.
