Patina Maldives, located in the North Malé Atoll, continues to foster the intersection of art and nature through its Artist in Residence program. From April 3 to 16, 2025, the resort welcomes German artist Paul Schrader, known for his striking large-scale works and vibrant use of color, as he embarks on a creative journey with guests. This program offers both established and emerging artists the opportunity to collaborate with the community, sharing their art and inspiration with visitors in an immersive setting.

Paul Schrader, a former lawyer turned artist, has built a global following for his artwork that blends spatial depth with bold, vivid hues. Schrader’s exhibitions have been showcased in prestigious venues across Berlin, New York, and beyond, gaining attention for the emotional depth his pieces convey. His work often draws from nature’s vast color spectrum, exploring how colors and forms can impact mood and atmosphere.
During his residency at Patina Maldives, Schrader will present his exhibition, "Light in Paradise," at the Fari Art Atelier — the resort's dedicated gallery space. The exhibition will explore the transient beauty of sunrise and sunset, capturing soft pastel tones, shimmering turquoise waters, and the tranquil ambiance of the Maldives. Schrader’s creative process will invite guests to experience the changing moods of these moments through his lens.

Guests will also have the unique opportunity to engage with Schrader during his “Sip and Paint” workshops at the Stargazing Pier. These intimate sessions, guided by Schrader’s techniques and insights, will offer participants the chance to create their own artistic interpretations of the tropical sunsets.

Patina Maldives, known for its harmonious integration of art and nature, is home to several captivating installations, including the "Skyspace" by acclaimed light artist James Turrell. This ongoing commitment to art ensures that guests can immerse themselves in a transformative experience where creativity and nature coexist seamlessly.
