The number of tourists visiting the Maldives this year has surpassed 350,000, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism. As of yesterday, a total of 358,999 tourists had arrived in the country, reflecting a 7.0% increase compared to the 335,467 arrivals during the same period last year.
China recorded the highest number of visitors, with 54,438 tourist arrivals. Russia followed with 35,391 tourists, while the United Kingdom ranked third, contributing 34,817 arrivals.
The Ministry of Tourism also reported that 69.0% of tourists visiting the Maldives stay at resorts, while 25.9% choose guesthouses, and 2.7% opt for hotels. Currently, 172 resorts are open to tourists, along with 796 guesthouses. Additionally, 155 safari vessels are in operation, providing tourism services.
The Maldives government has made significant efforts in recent years to attract more visitors, achieving various records in the tourism industry. This year, the target is to bring in 2.3 million tourists.
