This month, The Standard, Maldives is inviting guests to take part in a programme built around nature, community, and wellbeing, brought together in a series of meaningful and memorable experiences. Set during the Maldives’ manta ray season—when these majestic creatures are often seen gliding through surrounding waters—the resort has curated activities that highlight both the natural environment and human connection.
June is recognised as a particularly unique period in the Maldives. As plankton-rich waters attract larger numbers of manta rays, the ocean becomes especially active, offering guests remarkable marine encounters while also reinforcing the importance of ocean conservation. Inspired by this natural cycle, The Standard, Maldives has developed a month-long programme that combines sustainability, wellness, and immersive island living.
The month begins on 5 June, in line with World Environment Day, with activities designed to help guests reconnect with the planet. A specially curated plant-based menu at Joos Café highlights sustainability through food, while a zero-waste lunch at Kula reimagines dining with minimal environmental impact. Later in the day, guests take part in a tree planting activity, contributing to a living legacy on the island and encouraging shared environmental responsibility.
On 8 June, World Ocean Day shifts the focus toward the surrounding waters. Throughout the week, curated water-based excursions allow guests to explore the lagoon and beyond, deepening their appreciation of marine life during this seasonal highlight. Experiences range from manta ray encounters and nurse shark excursions to coral garden explorations and visits to the house reef located just steps from overwater villas. For younger guests, the Lil’ Shark Kids Club offers ocean-themed activities and craft sessions, helping children learn about marine life and the importance of conservation for future generations.
From 7 to 13 June, the resort also observes Hyatt’s Global Wellbeing Week under the theme “Unplug and Recharge.” Guided by community, discovery, and rejuvenation, the programme encourages a more mindful balance between work and life. It creates space for reflection, creativity, and rest, reinforcing that wellbeing is an essential part of everyday life. This period flows into a shared moment of celebration, with a curated turndown experience on the evening of 12 June across all villassets, gently guiding guests from individual restoration into collective wellbeing.
Global Wellness Day on the 13th brings the island to life with movement and energy. Guests and associates gather for a kayak race across the lagoon, followed by a healthy food masterclass at Guduguda that includes lunch and explores nourishing cuisine. Later in the day, a CrossFit session on the beach offers an energetic shoreline workout, encouraging participants to move and connect as the sun sets over the Maldives.
Wellbeing continues on 21 June with International Yoga Day, marked by a series of restorative experiences. At sunrise, guests gather at the spa pool deck at 6:00 am for a breath and movement session as daylight spreads across the Indian Ocean. A Yoga Nidra session follows in the afternoon, offering deep relaxation, while children participate in a yoga session led in collaboration with the Lil’ Shark Kids Club and the wellness team at 10:00 am.
The same day also coincides with Father’s Day, bringing a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere to the island. A dedicated space is created for fathers and families to unwind together, featuring movies, volleyball matches, and refreshments at Todis Bar.
Across the month, each experience—whether on land or in the water—reflects a shared intention to reconnect with what matters most. In a destination defined by its natural beauty and rich marine life, June at The Standard, Maldives becomes not only a celebration of global environmental and wellbeing days, but a living expression of them.
