Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru & Dhawa Ihuru Celebrate International Women’s Day

Resorts mark the occasion with snorkelling, wellness sessions and culinary experiences inspired by connection with nature and loved ones

Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru marked International Women’s Day with a series of thoughtfully designed island experiences celebrating the women who inspire us, centred on moments of connection with self, nature and loved ones.

The day’s programme began beneath the ocean’s surface with a Women’s Snorkelling Session, bringing guests from both resorts together for a guided exploration of the house reef. Led by the resorts’ Marine Lab team, participants explored colourful coral gardens and observed marine life thriving within one of the Maldives’ most carefully protected reefs. The activity reflects Banyan Group’s enduring commitment to environmental stewardship, a value upheld since the island first welcomed guests more than three decades ago.

Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru: A day centred on nature and wellbeing

During the afternoon, Saffron hosted a Women’s Day Cooking Class, offering guests a hands-on introduction to authentic Thai cuisine where fragrant herbs and vibrant spices combine in a culinary journey of flavour.

As sunset approached and warm golden hues filled the sky, guests gathered for a beachfront yoga session. Through guided breathing and gentle movement, the experience encouraged stillness and deeper awareness, complemented by the calming rhythm of the surrounding waves.

Later in the evening, Sangu Garden, the resort’s beachfront restaurant, presented a special Women’s Day Buffet Night. Live BBQ stations featured freshly grilled seafood alongside international dishes, served in a relaxed tropical setting under the evening sky. Ocean breezes, a cosy atmosphere and the scent of the grill shaped the evening’s ambience, while each female guest received a special surprise gift during the celebration.

Dhawa Ihuru: Celebrating with vibrant island flavours

Across the lagoon, Dhawa Ihuru brought its lively island character to the occasion through experiences designed to encourage fun and connection.

Following the snorkel safari at the house reef, guests enjoyed a Women’s Day Special BBQ Lunch at Riveli Restaurant. The beachfront dining experience combined vibrant island flavours with international favourites in a welcoming setting.

Later in the afternoon, a Sri Lankan Cooking Class offered another interactive culinary experience, allowing guests to explore bold spices and traditional cooking techniques through a lively hands-on session.

Together, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru created a meaningful International Women’s Day celebration, honouring the women who inspire us through experiences of wellness, exploration and joyful connection set within the natural beauty of the Maldives.
