The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, a private island retreat situated within one of the Maldives’ most exclusive atolls, has confirmed a new partnership with LUX Tennis. The agreement strengthens the resort’s established tennis offering, with the addition of a new padel court planned, broadening its active lifestyle experiences for families.
The St. Regis brand traces its origins to the Astor family, founders of the original St. Regis New York, and continues to reflect a long-standing association with sport and refined leisure. During the Gilded Age, tennis emerged as a hallmark of elegance within the Astor social sphere, symbolising a way of life shaped by culture, hospitality and recreation. This heritage remains evident throughout the St. Regis portfolio, where traditional sporting activities continue to represent the brand’s focus on sophistication and glamour.
At the St. Regis Maldives, the enhanced LUX Tennis programme is set against the island’s natural surroundings and is designed to elevate tennis experiences for guests across all age groups and skill levels. The initiative includes coaching led by experts and residency programmes featuring internationally recognised professionals. Through tailored clinics and on-court sessions, guests will be able to train, compete and interact with elite players in experiences intended to be both accessible and engaging.
Confirmed visiting professionals include:
Angelique Kerber, former world No.1 and three-time Grand Slam champion
29th – 31st March 2026
Feliciano López, former Spanish tennis champion with a career-high singles ranking of world No.12
16th – 17th May 2026
The expanded programme accommodates a range of preferences, from informal family matches and junior-oriented instruction to more intensive training sessions for seasoned players. Activities are structured to integrate smoothly with time spent on the beach, at the spa or enjoying family dining.
The resort features 77 spacious beachfront and overwater villas, each equipped with private pools. Facilities include the presidential John Jacob Astor Estate, recognised as the largest overwater three-bedroom villa in the Maldives. Guests also benefit from access to the award-winning Iridium Spa, six separate dining venues and a private yacht available for charter.
