Alila Kothaifaru Maldives continues to provide remarkable encounters as manta season commences in the Raa Atoll. Recent sightings of marine life have delighted guests and set a vibrant tone for the months ahead. Over the past week, a large and playful group of dolphins swam very close to the resort’s house reef, while a rare ornate eagle ray was observed gliding gracefully through the lagoon for several days. These moments underscore the rich biodiversity encircling the island.
The resort’s dedication to preserving the tranquility of its marine environment enhances these encounters. At Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, sustainability is integral to the guest experience. By offering exclusively non-motorized watersports, the resort safeguards delicate reefs, protects marine life, and reduces noise and pollution, allowing visitors to enjoy the ocean in its purest and most harmonious form.
Encounter Majestic Mantas in Raa Atoll
The Raa Atoll offers a range of aquatic activities to explore its vibrant marine life, with this season providing an ideal opportunity to see one of its most impressive residents—the manta ray. While mantas can be seen year-round, their numbers peak from December to May, drawn to plankton-rich waters and multiple cleaning stations.
Guests can join dive excursions at shallow depths of 10–15 meters, offering excellent opportunities to observe mantas gliding gracefully, interacting socially, and participating in cleaning behaviors. With the dive team’s insightful guidance, each experience becomes even more enriching. Early morning dives often yield the most rewarding encounters, while beginners and non-divers can opt for guided private snorkel trips to observe these gentle giants from the surface.
From kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to sailing, snorkeling, and diving, every ocean activity at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives is carefully curated to foster a deeper connection with the sea while respecting its fragile beauty. This approach ensures that Raa Atoll’s underwater paradise continues to thrive for generations to come.
