Pullman Maldives Maamutaa will unveil its vibrant Maamutaa House Reef, a thriving underwater ecosystem just 100 meters from the resort’s shoreline, during Aqua Week 2025, scheduled for July 13 to 20. This remarkable reef, rich in biodiversity, hosts green and hawksbill turtles, blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, colorful parrotfish and angelfish, and occasional sightings of eagle rays and octopuses. The resort’s marine biologist highlights its accessibility and vitality, noting that guests can experience this natural spectacle with minimal effort, inspiring both wonder and a commitment to conservation.

Aqua Week 2025 will celebrate marine discovery and sustainability, featuring the launch of Phase 1 of the Seagrass Mapping & Awareness Project. Guests will participate in guided snorkeling tours to collect visual data and learn about the ecological importance of seagrass meadows, which nurture juvenile marine life and sequester carbon. The week will also include collaborations with Insta360 for underwater content creation workshops, Edge K5 for smart drive underwater scooter experiences, and certified mermaid Gloria Xue, who will lead mermaid classes, underwater photoshoots, and captivating performances in the Aqua Villa.

The Seagrass Mapping & Awareness Project, aligned with Green Globe’s sustainability program, underscores the resort’s environmental commitment. Phase 1 in July will focus on seagrass identification and mapping, followed by guest-engaged snorkeling tours in August and September, and concluding with a documentary premiere in October showcasing the project’s findings. This initiative invites guests to actively contribute to preserving a critical marine habitat while deepening their understanding of its ecological role.

Pullman Maldives Maamutaa offers a range of reef-centered activities, including guided snorkeling tours, Discover Scuba Diving sessions from the beach, night snorkeling with UV lights to observe biofluorescence, citizen science programs, and the Kids’ Ocean Explorers program for young adventurers. The reef’s healthy hard and soft corals, nurtured by ocean currents and protected by the atoll’s geography, make it a gateway to the Indian Ocean’s wonders, accessible to divers, snorkelers, and first-time explorers alike.
