From May 31 to June 5, 2025, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives), in collaboration with Singapore Airlines, hosted a select group of Japanese travel trade representatives for a familiarisation trip. The initiative aimed to boost the Maldives’ appeal as a leading family and wellness travel destination within Japan.
The participants explored the Maldives’ exceptional offerings at Centara Ras Fushi Maldives and Pullman Maldives Maamutaa, focusing on customized wellness and family-oriented experiences. This strategic trip was designed to deepen partnerships with Japan’s travel sector and promote specialized packages to increase visitor numbers from Japan.
As of April 22, 2025, the Maldives had welcomed 12,157 Japanese visitors. Building on efforts like the JOTC Quarterly Webinar and other PR activities, this trip is part of MMPRC’s broader strategy to grow these figures. Future plans include joint campaigns with tour operators, media and influencer trips, and a Maldives Roadshow in the Far East.
MMPRC continues its commitment to positioning the Maldives as a world-class destination, offering unforgettable family holidays and tailored wellness experiences for Japanese travelers.
