Ooredoo Maldives has unveiled its 2025 calendar, blending Maldivian folklore with advanced technology in a project titled Future Meets Nostalgia. The launch ceremony, held at Ooredoo’s Hulhumalé headquarters, was officiated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Mr. Ali Ihusan.

For the first time in the Maldives, the calendar integrates NFC technology and AI-driven chatbots to create a unique interactive experience. Each month highlights a character from Maldivian folklore, such as those from the beloved stories Foolhudhigu Handi and Safaru Kaiydha. These characters are brought to life digitally, allowing users to engage with them, uncover their narratives, and explore their worlds.

A new character unlocks every month, providing a dynamic and evolving storytelling experience. Hussain Niyaz, Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, emphasized the initiative's cultural significance, stating:

“The Ooredoo Calendar 2025 represents our commitment to preserving Maldivian culture while leveraging technology to make it accessible and engaging for future generations. By merging the nostalgia of folklore with the excitement of digital interactivity, we’re not only celebrating our rich traditions but also ensuring that these stories remain alive for years to come.”

This innovative calendar aligns with Ooredoo’s vision of building a Digital Maldives by bridging generational gaps and fostering connections while safeguarding the nation’s heritage. Through the integration of AI and NFC technology, Ooredoo exemplifies how modern tools can revitalize and share traditional stories on a global scale.

In addition to celebrating Maldivian culture, the calendar underscores Ooredoo’s forward-thinking approach to enhancing digital experiences. As part of its dedication to a digitally connected Maldives, the company continues to explore new ways technology can preserve and promote cultural heritage.
