The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, held its first-ever Tourism Industry Insights Workshop—a successful initiative aimed at equipping the local tourism sector with the latest market intelligence and strategic insights.
The workshop was led by Ms. Sarah Mathews, CEO of E-Tourism Frontiers and consultant to Visit Maldives. Her sessions addressed a range of critical topics shaping the current travel landscape. Participants gained valuable knowledge about the Digital Revolution in Travel, adapting to changing consumer behavior, understanding destination marketing trends, and learning how to engage the next generation of travelers.

Earlier in the day, the MMPRC marketing team opened with a Global Market Intelligence session, offering updates on the Maldives’ top ten markets: the United Kingdom, Russia, China, Italy, Germany, the Middle East, Switzerland, India, the USA, and France.
Ms. Mathews also led discussions on developing target audiences, building a stronger understanding of Maldives as a unique destination, and exploring how destination organizations can evolve their marketing strategies to stay competitive in an ever-changing global tourism environment.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Abdulla Ghiyaz Riyaz, Chairperson of the MMPRC’s Board of Directors, emphasized the broader goal of the event: “This workshop is part of a broader shift we are leading at Visit Maldives towards a more data-driven, inclusive, and forward-thinking approach to how we promote our destination. Our goal is clear; to not only adapt to change but to lead it.”
The workshop also served as a valuable networking platform, encouraging collaboration among tourism professionals, regulatory bodies, and government representatives. Through presentations, dialogue, and idea exchanges, attendees explored opportunities to support shared goals and national development in tourism.
By launching this initiative, Visit Maldives reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside stakeholders and enhancing the country’s global tourism footprint. With more events like this planned, the organization aims to keep industry professionals informed and ready to navigate future trends with innovative strategies.
