The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, known as Visit Maldives, is partnering with Khalid Al Ameri, a prominent Emirati content creator and digital storyteller, for a familiarisation (FAM) trip from March 22nd to 26th, 2025. With a 21 million-strong social media following, Khalid’s skill in creating culturally meaningful content makes him an ideal choice to promote the Maldives as a last-minute travel gem for Middle Eastern and GCC visitors. A Stanford alumnus and a Gulf Business "100 Most Powerful Arabs" honoree, he’s also the first social media star to earn a Dubai Star on the Downtown Dubai Walk of Fame.
While in the Maldives, Khalid will capture the essence of Ramadan, sharing daily posts on Facebook and Instagram, along with photos, videos, and community updates across platforms. His content will feature beachside iftar experiences, luxury accommodations suited for Middle Eastern guests, and a focus on halal travel and local traditions. Reaching an estimated 3.2 million viewers, his work will showcase the Maldives’ striking landscapes, exceptional hospitality, and rich cultural heritage.
This collaboration is a strategic move by Visit Maldives to grow its Middle Eastern market, which brought in over 79,000 tourists in 2024, representing 3.9% of its visitors. Khalid’s knack for bridging cultures and celebrating Islamic values supports the company’s aim to market the Maldives as a prime Eid destination. His engaging and humorous style resonates strongly with Middle Eastern audiences, enhancing the islands’ draw as a luxurious, culturally immersive escape.
The trip fits into Visit Maldives’ ongoing efforts to collaborate with global influencers and brand ambassadors to elevate its presence in key regions. Through Khalid’s compelling storytelling, the company will highlight the Maldives’ scenic beauty and top-notch hospitality, appealing to travelers craving both relaxation and cultural depth. This initiative is one of many influencer-driven projects by Visit Maldives to keep the destination in the global spotlight.
