Maldivian, the national airline, has partnered with the Maldives Hajj Corporation to support the air travel of Hajj pilgrims for the upcoming season. The agreement was commemorated in a ceremony today at the Islamic Center, attended by the Honourable Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. The partnership agreement was signed by Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Island Aviation Services Limited, and Mohamed Shakeel, Managing Director of the Hajj Corporation.
This collaboration will allow for the transportation of 500 pilgrims from the Maldives, which accounts for fifty percent of the quota allocated to the Maldivian government by Saudi Arabia. Flights will be operated using the latest addition to the Maldivian fleet—the Airbus A330.
During the event, Ibrahim Iyas emphasized that this significant achievement was made possible with the support of the government, which facilitated the acquisition of the widebody aircraft, enhancing the global reach of the Maldivian airline network.
