Ooredoo Maldives has announced that registration is now open for the Ooredoo Masrace 2026, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources. The event will convene fishing teams and enthusiasts to celebrate Maldivian fishing traditions through competitive racing.
The competition is scheduled to take place on 7 August 2026 at K.Maafushi.
Registration for the event opened on 14 July 2026 and will close on 21 July 2026 at 23:59. Teams consisting of 12 members, including the captain and officials, may register online at https://ore.do/masrace2025.
The total prize pool amounts to MVR 43,000. The first-place team will receive MVR 25,000, second place MVR 10,000, and third place MVR 5,000. Individual awards include MVR 1,000 for Best Fisherman, MVR 1,000 for Best Fisherwoman, and MVR 1,000 for Biggest Catch.
Ooredoo Masrace functions as a community festival that brings together families, friends, and neighbours around their shared connection to the sea. Participants range from youngest crew members to experienced captains, gathering to celebrate fishing traditions, exchange stories, and support one another throughout the competition. The event serves as a representation of Maldivian culture, emphasising teamwork, friendly rivalry, and community spirit.
Participation is open to government institutions, corporate teams, and members of the general public. This year's Masrace promises competitive races and cultural unity across two islands.
